Tide Pool Walk
Estuary Walk
The tide pool walk with Mr. Gardner was a huge success. A bunch of kids showed up and everyone had a great time. We saw a bunch of sea slugs, a few sea stars (as shown above) and other marine life. This trip was very insightful and I made memories that I will never forget. This specific trip was so fun because it was more fun to be a part of because unlike other schools, we actually got to see all of this stuff in person instead of learning it on a boring power point.
The estuary walk was a huge success! I saw a bunch of wildlife and got to simply enjoy the outdoors. Unfortunately, I was unable to go on the walk with my class and had to go by myself instead. However, I still managed to get down to the estuary and explore it. For me, it was my first time going down there which was really neat. I even got to watch the surf at trestles. Next time I am in the area, I am going to take my family so that they can enjoy it as much as I did.
Scripps Research Institute
While in San Diego with my family, I got to take some time to look at Scripps. This research institute has been rewarded with making brake-through studies in diseases such as Alzeihmers, Ebola, Addiction, blindness and many more!!!!
Phylum Hunt!!!
The phylum hunt was my favorite assignment of the year. This assignment really forced all the kids to go outside and learn about their marine environment. The reason why I liked it so much was because it allowed me to go to the ocean institute with a few friends and get to physically see animals that we usually do not see. This assignment also was something that we had been working on since the first day of school. No one really noticed this but most of the animals that we had dissected in class were the animals that were on our phylum hunt. We also went on a tide pool walk that also had all of the animals that we needed.
